Path information
We will go to discover the Convent of San Nicola and the Lemon Path: Crossing a valley of elderberries, the route is an exciting adventure in history and nature, leading us to the discovery of authentic treasures.
We will start from the main square of Ravello, Piazza Duomo at 350 metres above sea level, and we will continue through the narrow roads of the historic centre through the ancient city walls.
We will then cross the hamlet of “Lacco” and the locality of San Martino to then reach Sambuco, one of the thirteen hamlets of Ravello, where we will walk along the path.
The walk will be immersed in nature and silence, only to be pleasantly interrupted by small cascades of the stream that we will encounter along the way.
We will arrive at the Convent of San Nicola (CAI path 315A) located on Mount
Forcella at 486 metres above sea level, in the municipality of Minori.
It is a historical place consisting of a church and a convent founded in the 11th century and restored in the 1980s.
During the journey we will admire the beautiful views of Maiori, Minori, Ravello and the coastline.
We continue our journey downhill towards the “Sentiero dei Limoni”; a path kissed by the sun in a panoramic location over the villages of Maiori and Minori.
In ancient times the Lemon Path was the only route that could be travelled on foot and for centuries farmers followed it carrying crates of lemons on their backs which were then taken by sea to reach other towns.
We will make a pleasant stop at an orchard farm where we will have a guided tour to discover the characteristic lemon groves, where the famous Amalfi lemons “Sfusato Amalfitano” are grown.
After the stop, we will cross the hamlet of Torre and reach the centre of Minori where the excursion will end.
